![]() Users can also modulate these added waves through the modular patchbay on the device. ![]() ![]() These include the “Ultrasaw,” which layers two more sawtooth waveforms on top of the original, giving it a bit more grit. Each wave type also has another layer of controls. The oscillator includes a number of interesting features, such as the sub-oscillator, which adds another layer of beef to the sound. Not only that, but the sonic character of the sound can be changed with the waveform volume knobs. In fact, the synth almost acts as a three-oscillator synth, even though it technically only has one oscillator. While the MicroBrute SE is designed like a single-oscillator synthesizer, it allows for users to blend individual waveforms, allowing users to create much more complex sounds than a real single-oscillator synth. The first set of controls allow for the user to manipulate the synth’s oscillator. All the controls for the device are easy to access, without the users feeling like they don’t have proper control of the sounds. The MicroBrute SE is well laid out and is not too daunting to look at. We took a look at the MicroBrute SE in celebration of the new release. Arturia announced the MicroBrute SE just last month, offering a limited edition and colorful take on the popular Arturia MicroBrute.
